Our exquisite collection of Vintage Rugs are hand woven by women of the Berber tribes located in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco.
Each rug is individually woven using pure wool to create motifs and patterns that tell a story traditional to the tribe’s people of that area. These particular rugs are known as Boujaad and originate from the Haouz region of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Boujaad rugs are usually a medium to thick pile that feel lush and full underfoot.
Aged between 30 and 70 years each rug has been hand woven many years ago for use in a home or to celebrate an occasion such as a wedding or a birth. They are then sold off to the Souks of the major cities of Morocco. Truly one of a kind exquisite pieces of art to add to your traditional or contemporary styled home.
Characteristics typically found in vintage rugs include uneven edges, natural fading and other imperfections from general wear and tear. This creates a charm and character not found in mass produced new rugs. We like to call them perfectly imperfect!
